An established artist for more than forty years, Tadashi Asoma is world renowned as a premier painter and printmaker. Born in Japan, Asoma left for Paris to study art in 1956 under a Japanese government scholarship.
During his study abroad, Asoma developed a profound interest in the Impressionist and Post-Impressionist eras with regard to color and use of pattern and graphic abstractions. Three years later, Asoma visited the United States and became intrigued with the explosive art of the American Contemporary art scene. In combination with influence from his Japan heritage, Asoma's artistry maintains a delicate sense of symmetry and the subtle presence of transient natural experiences, such as the changing of seasons. Certainly, Asoma's art reflects the three pervasive cultures that shaped his growth.
After visiting the United States, Asoma decided to make his home in America. He has since exhibited extensively throughout the U.S., Europe, and Japan. His work is well-known to collectors of contemporary art and is held in the permanent collections of museums in many major cities including Tokyo, San Diego, New York, and Kansas City. |
