From an early age Rafael showed an inclination towards the arts. He eventually studied at the art school at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina and later at Oxford in England. His artistic thirst was not quenched through painting only so he turned to writing. His writing took the shape of essays, short stories and collaborations. But Rafael soon understood that artistic expression is a combination of various forms and used these talents - that of writing and the visual, for a total concept - the artist must be completely dedicated. Dedication was necessary not only for achievement and development, but also for true enjoyment. With time his works developed a more intense air and he became more prolific. But he had learned something during his time as a writer. He bought the drama, the magic and humor, which can come out in the lines of a novel or the frames of a film. This may be the great characteristic of his seductive artist: the ability to synthesize a magic moment - and turn a painting into a living story. His work stands out for more than the creativity of his design. It stands out also for what he does to his medium. Before beginning a painting, Rafael passes the paper through various treatments. Among these treatments is a high temperature braising which adds a special texture and an oriental effect to the paper. Rafael utilizes acrylic and metallic paints both of which add contrast and vitality to his work. To the observer these effects show a very personal side of the artist. Rafael presently lives in North Miami, Florida. His love for art has taken him around much of the world for his exhibitions.
