Kamil Kubik, an impressionist painter, defected from Czechoslovakia in 1948 and has studied or worked in London, Sydney, San Francisco, Paris and New York. He is best known for his pastels of cityscapes and for designing the official postage stamp commemorating the 1994 World Cup soccer championships at the Meadowlands in New Jersey. Kubik has visited the White House at the invitation of three presidents, and counts among his friends Donald Trump, Barbara Bush and Prince Rainier of Monaco. Kamil designed the official 1991 and 1992 White House Christmas cards, and his work has appeared on the covers of Readers' Digest and M.D. Magazine. He lives with his wife, Joanna, in North Bergen, New Jersey.
